Batesville Arkansas
holds several special events each year that attract visitors from all over the country. The White River Water Carnival is an old-fashioned, small town festival with lots of All-American fun for the whole family. Included in the schedule of events are fishing derbies, canoe races, a volleyball tournament, parades, the Miss White River pageant and a spectacular fireworks display. This carnival is held in Riverside Park and has been a tradition of the city for over sixty years.
Another popular, unique event held in Batesville is the Ozark Film Fest, Where the Mountains Meet the Movies. The first festival was held in the spring of 2002, and attracted more than 3500 people to this small foothills town. Since then it has become an annual event that honors independent filmmakers, especially young and emerging filmmakers from Arkansas and the surrounding region. More than half of the programs in the Film Fest has no admission charge. For 25 years, Batesville has also been the site of the Arkansas Scottish Festival, usually held in late April, with most of the events taking place on the Lyons College Main Campus. This colorful festival is a weekend of non-stop music, Highland dancing competitions, bagpiping and drumming competitions, sheep dog demonstrations, a golf tournament, parades, a Feast and Ceilidh and much more fun for everyone of all ages.
Lyons College in Batesville also holds various special events on campus throughout the year, including lectures and concerts. In addition to those mentioned above, here is a list of other fun events that you can expect to find in the town of Batesville throughout the year:
